Yoga Tradition or Yoga Parampara that we the teachers at Samyak Yoga hold from our Acharya Dr Ramachandra Bhatt of Veda Vijnana Gurukulam.
As a part of our Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, we with our students went to the institution wherein we were shaped, educated, explored different dimensions of Yoga practice, i.e. Veda Vijnana Gurukulam.
Yoga tradition: Veda Vijnana Gurukulam
Veda Vijnana Gurukulam is so unique in so many subtle ways though the word Gurukulam has made its place to be trendy, fashionable among many others such as Mantra, Tantra etc.
This Gurukulam is the replica of those Gurukulam which existed even before Buddha’s period.
There were Gurukulams, the ancient Indian Universities such as Takshashila, Nalanda, Ujjayini wherein the students from all over the world used to stay with the Acharya (teacher / Guru) and learn their field of interest for free.
This Gurukulam is a brainchild of Dr Ramachandra Bhatt, our beloved Acharya to recreate the same with changing times.
This Gurukulam was founded in 1997 right after the Gurukulam for girls was founded.
This Gurukulam is a place for higher education for boys from the age of 16 to 23.
The students are explored in the Vedic chanting of a complete branch which takes everyday classes for seven complete years while the six Indian schools of Philosophies are explored in Sanskrit.
The texts such a Bhagavad Gita, the major Upanishads, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Brahmasutras, Mahabhashya of Sanskrit Grammar, Siddhanta Lesha Sangraha, etc. with their Sanskrit commentaries are taught so that you will have first-hand knowledge, the practice offered by the ancient wisdom of India.
We will discuss in detail the perspective, practice, and uniqueness in approach in the series of articles. As always, we would love to attend to your questions, notes, and ideas.
