Dedicating his life to the practice of spirituality, Acharya Ramachandra Bhatt has been emphasizing the wisdom of ancient, traditional Yoga practise as taught in the Vedas as well as in the Upanishads. He has always been vocal about keeping the practice of Yoga in its undiluted form.

It has been the passion of the Samyak Yoga team to keep the roots of Yoga intact and bring it as it is, into practice. Hence, you will find teachings at Samyak Yoga more traditional, rooted in its core wisdom of Yoga practice and Philosophy.

Philosophical Studies

This research centre/Yogic monastery allows the students to learn the six Indian schools of Philosophy as foundations in the first half of the training period.

One explores magnificent poetic expressions such as Raguvamsha & Abhijnana Shakuntala of Kalidasa, Vairagya Shataka & Niti Shataka of Bhartrihari etc., in the early days of studies in Gurukulam.

The study gets deeper in the second half of the training wherein one studies Bhagavad Gita – Major Upanishads-Brahma Sutras all with Shankara Bhashya, Patanjali Yoga Sutras with Vyasa Commentary. Complete Mula (Full section) study of Vedic chanting of Krishna Yajurveda or Rgveda will be done throughout the stay of seven years.

Sanskrit

Sanskrit is the spoken language of this Gurukulam.

The texts such as Upanishads or Yoga sutras are studied in the Sanskrit language so that the student gets the first-hand experience of the wisdom of the philosophies.

Practices

Gurukula system of education focuses more on shaping character. The integral development of the student rather than only intellectual development is emphasized by the Acharyas.

The character is shaped when philosophy is practised, and the practice becomes the expression of philosophy.

As our Acharya always says ‘it is not about what you have learned, but it is about who you are after what you have learned.'

It is all about the practice of philosophy. It is the inner exploration that takes place during the stay for seven long years.
